Coming from Liberec/Czech Republic, the Band Calathea offers you a combination of stand out vocals, which are influenced by rock, nostalgic melodies and their melancholic lyrics. This all together reflects the image of the Band Calathea, and so they are seen as one of the most exciting Newcomers of their Genre. In spring 1999 the band was formed by the brothers Lukas Pirkl (guitar) and Pavel Pirkl (drums) and their friend Jara Holy (Keys) in Liberec. The Band Calathea was born, and they started to compose their own songs and write down their lyrics, which are telling you about pure feelings and melancholy, influenced by real life experience, which is supported by touching keyboard-arrangements and energy loaded guitar-riffs. This mixture reflects to all shadows of feelings and pure goth-rock at the same time. Soon after the first Demo-CD followed called "The Touch of the Empty Verse" released in Fall 1999. Both, critics and fans enjoyed the album very much, and the result was that this Demo was quite a success and completely sold out. In 2001 the Demo-CD was followed by their next Masterpiece-Demo called "Wish Thinking", and was like the first one completely sold out and praised by critics. The positive feedback of these critically acclaimed CD's and their fans worldwide, gave the Band the opportunity to play some successful gigs in clubs and several festivals, also in places outside from the Czech-Republic like in Germany, Poland, Croatia or Slowakia. Calathea also shared the united stages with artists like: HIM, Type o Negative, T.M.Stevens, Deathstars, Feiled, Hevein to name only a few. In 2007 Calathea decided to follow their vision in a more professional way, and they are ready to share their music with the world. In Fall the band discovered their new and very promising Lead-singer called Marketa Myskova, which shares the same vision of Calathea. Marketa gives the band more depth with her touching and strong voice that crowds can feel powerfully, which reflects the essence of the Band through and through. The Band is now ready with their new Line-up to follow their vision together and realize their dreams to bring their music to the masses worldwide, that is what Calathea is famous for, their energetic Live-Shows. In the next upcoming month, the band is working on their new album, which keeps the promise to have even more depth and be more personal than ever before! You will soon witness the proof!
